One aspect of photography that is very important is the lighting. There has been too much emphasis on equipments with regards to taking photos. Or there is a lot of talk regarding other techniques for taking great pictures. But nothing is as crucial as determining how the light affects the photographs you take. So in this article we are going to examine how the quality of light can make or break your photos.

First and foremost there is lighting termed hard light. This type of light only occurs or comes from a bright and sunny day. What this type of lighting can do to your photos is create very bright parts on some of it. Or it can produce very dark images or spots on some parts of the photos.

This is very important especially when taking photos during weddings. Because a single instance of bad lighting can destroy a lot of photos. Understanding this has helped me in my wedding photographer service.

Next there is one type of lighting aptly named as soft light. This usually occurs during cloudy days and are usually smooth without too much shadows. You can utilize this type of lighting to your great advantage to produce high quality photos. The main determining reason for this is due to the fact that the color stands out and is seen vividly on film. This works very well for commercial type of photos similar to the clients I have worked for in my commercial photographer service.

And lastly there is artificial lighting that you can utilize to shoot photos. An example of this type of lighting are the lights used in a photo studio. This is very nice for taking those family portraits because you can manipulate the lights to suit your needs in relation to your picture. This has served my well in my event photography service.

As you can see the role of lighting in photography can make or break your picture. If you understand what they are for and how to best utilize them, you will produce top quality photos.
