For your information, decorating walls is more than just about driving a nail or screwing a hook. The task requires a lot of consideration than you think. A blank wall may be a real challenge, but if you know the basic of hanging arts, you can turn that challenge into an opportunity. Here are some tips you might find helpful whenever you attempt to beautify the walls of your home using artwork.

Finding or creating a focal point is essential if you're planning to hang more than three pictures on the wall. For a group of small pictures, perhaps the best focal point to consider is a mirror. It's also important to draw a layout first before actually hanging the pictures. Aside from giving you a clear preview, it will also help you reduce the risk for errors.

When working with smaller pictures, leave as little space as possible between frames. Spreading the pictures all over the wall can ruin the visual contact. Moreover, avoid hanging them in a level higher than your line of sight. Instead, hang them at an eye level or even lower for better visibility.

Drive nails or hooks at a certain angle so that the weight of the picture frames will be distributed and shared by the wall. To keep pictures straight all the time, use two hooks instead of one. This will also keep pictures from falling easily and getting broken. For larger, heavier frames, use chains to hold them instead of just hooks or nails.

You can absolutely get the job done all by yourself, but for faster and better results, it's always a good idea to ask for assistance. Get someone to hold the pictures for you so that you can easily check whether an arrangement is okay or not. You can also try using a carpenter's level if you feel that the wall is not straight. However, it's not as good as the way your eyes work in making estimations.

Always remember to find a center that will serve as your basis for the arrangement. Hang the pictures one by one, either from left to right or vice-versa until you're done with the wall. In case you need some help from an expert, don't hesitate to look for one. However, you have to take into consideration the fact that hiring a professional can be costly.
