Destination wedding is a type of wedding that's held somewhere out of town. The places that bridal couples can choose from are many but the most common choice include beaches, resorts and cityscapes. There are also couples that choose far-off islands, which is probably the reason why some people think wedding destinations are some sort of fancy elopements.

In practice, however, that belief is far from true. Destination weddings and elopements are very different types of wedding whose only similarity is that both are held out of town.

Wedding destinations require time for the wedding preparation. This means bridal couples will have to exhaust their choices by doing a lot of research, making many phone calls, visiting many websites and doing some comparisons to determine the perfect location for the wedding.

In contrary, elopements don't require couples to spend much time for the wedding preparation. This is because elopements are often spur-of-the-moment, whirlwind affairs. Couples that have eloped are more focused on finding the place where the procedures for obtaining marriage-license requirements is easy.

Planning a destination wedding thereby requires more effort. There is an element of work attached to planning this kind of wedding since couples will need to talk to a lot of vendors. They'll have to make a decision about certain wedding elements, too, such as flowers, ceremony reading vows, reception food and drink, music for the ceremony and reception, wedding cake, wedding dress and pictures. In elopements most of these elements are eliminated.

Moreover, elopements are somewhat secretive because partners who have eloped do not usually announce their intentions. These are also usually a small ceremony because elopements seldom involve anyone other than the bride and the groom.

But if a couple don't have to keep their upcoming wedding a secret from anyone and they're holding it somewhere out-of-town, then their choice is clear: they want a destination wedding.

Of course, a destination wedding will not be complete without finding a wedding photographer. A destination wedding photographer will help couples capture the important moments of their wedding and the splendor of the location as well. Bridal couples can consider choosing a photojournalist that specializes in destination wedding photography especially if they want their wedding photos to be more of spontaneous, natural-looking and minute-moment shots.
