The use of photography as an artistic outlet is on a rise as of late. Often will you see people carrying around their DSLRs in an attempt to get that perfect shot. As you know, photos enable you to capture wonderful sceneries. Looking at a landscape photography gallery can make one envious of the skills that those photographers have at getting those wonderful shots.

Taking good landscape photos require great skills. But beginners need not be intimidated as those skills can be learned. When taking scenery shots, it is important to take note of these elements that make for a wonderful photo.

Putting a foreground to your photo can give it depth. The further addition of a background and middle ground further adds a three dimensional quality to your picture. The foreground is the object that is nearest to the camera.

The center of interest or your subject is where you want to draw the viewer's attention to. Using the rule of thirds as a composition guideline makes for a harmonious composition. The rule of thirds pertains to putting your subject off-center, that is, in the bottom or upper third or right or left third of the photo.

Light quality can add to the drama of a good scenery shot. For a better effect, it is best to take shots at dusk or at dawn. Light conditions at this time can add dramatic shadows to your photograph. Also, the bright light of noon could make your pictures appear to bright.

Scale entails including an object of a known size in the photo. This enables the viewer to recognize the size of the subject. A tiny person in a vast sand dune can enhances the magnanimity of the sand dune.

A good picture is a combination of a lot of factors. How those factors are combined to make a composition is in the hands of the photographer. Exploring a landscape photography gallery will give you an idea of a good composition. Who knows, you images just might end up there one day.
