The photographs you see in magazines of well-known celebrities, musicians, athletes and politicians are created to stimulate emotions in the people looking at them. From excitement, to happiness, to envy, and every feeling in between, these types of vibrant and fascinating people have abilities and personalities that can't easily be captured on film. So how is it done?

Have you ever thought about the person guiding the lens of those elegant celebrity photographs you see in magazines, you already know the answer. Celebrity photographers are skilled in and experienced with capturing real emotion and talent on film. These people have just as much skill as the people they are shooting, and most likely work in one or two of three different categories.

Event photography is one of the most important categories in which celebrity photographers' work. Motion picture premiers, social gatherings, award shows, music festivals and exclusive functions are just a few of the instances that these professional photographers work. They're used by publicists or publications for red carpet events, and occasionally they are chosen by the celebrities themselves for wedding receptions or birthday parties.

Photographs captured at parties are what you typically see in magazines. As an example, if you've ever watched fashion coverage of a red carpet event in a magazine, it was likely a paid celebrity photographer who took the pictures. And the pictures you see on new music channels from their live events? Celebrity photographers also took these.

Another important category that celebrity photographers work in is celebrity portraits. Many of these are the more non-public photographs you see of stars, much like the ones that accompany the interviews you will find in magazines. These pictures are the ones that are used to catch the essence of each celebrity, and to offer the viewer a look into who that person really is in their private life.

Celebrity portraits also are used on album covers, in magazines as mentioned above, or even in celebrity's individual portfolios. They are also designed for the same things that all people use photography for - to take a lovely family portrait. After all, celebrities are first and foremost people, and take family portraits much like anybody else.

The third category that celebrity photographers operate in is paparazzi, which is when the photographer takes candid photographs of celebrities. It is common knowledge that paparazzi photographers have a reputation for annoying celebrities, a reputation that is deserved. But not all paparazzi photographers deserve this status. Quite a few work under their own ethical standards, and often just take photographs if they have permission. Regrettably you don't hear about these kinds of photographers too often.

So the next time you see an amazing picture of your favorite musician, actor, vocalist or even politician, now you know a bit more about the ability guiding the camera. Without having celebrity photographers, and their true talents, we wouldn't be offered a glance into whom our favorite celebrities really are.
