The transformation of Susan Boyle's life forever, took just under three minutes. On January 21st, 2009 a chapel worker at the age of 47 decided it was time to take a chance at Englands top rating television show, Britains Got Talent. In what will be recorded in history as The Day of The Susan Boyle Audition, the chapel volunteer from Scotland burst on to stage and took the world by storm.

As she walked on stage, many snickered, others rolled their eyes. However, when Susan belted out the first line of the Les Miserables hit "I Dreamed a Dream", jeers very quickly turned to cheers. The show stopping performance that has been viewed online on more than 120 million occasions, has taken individuals by the heart and skyrocketed her to fame. The Susan Boyle audition "was one of the most extraordinary moments of the entertainment world in 2009," quote Oprah Winfrey.

Before this instance however, Susan's life was not even close to extraordinary.

In Susans younger years, her parents where advised not to expect a lot from the younger of their 9 children Susan, due to the fact that while Susans mother was giving birth to her, she was deprived of oxygen and developed a slight disability.

Susan describes how she struggled to fit in throughout her younger years. "I didn't make friends very easily. I couldn't trust anybody, and when I did try to speak to people, they made fun of me," she says. "So the only escape from all that, really, was music."

It had been an ongoing fantasy of Susan's to turn out to be a professional singer, but in 2007, when tradgedy struck with the passing of her mother, she stated she lost the dream of professional singing. "The loneliness truly set in, I understand that [my mom] meant me to do something with my life, however I did not know until I applied for the tv program." Susan describes.

In a nail biting final episode of Britain's Got Talent, Susan ended up coming in at second place to the amazement of her fans. Although this was certainly no show stopper for the release of her album, which tore up the charts to the number one position in no time.

Since its release in November 2009, I Dreamed a Dream by Susan Boyle has sold more than 8 million copies worldwide, making it the biggest female debut of all time! "It's astounding," Susan says in a typical Susan fashion. "It's very humbling, as well."
