Turban wrapping is a process that is considered sacred among some communities. The turbans are a popular head wear especially among the men. They are usually designed to keep the person wearing cool in thirsty and hot desert environments like the Sahara. They may also be worn as symbol of pride in different societies. In India, this head-wear is commonly referred to as pagri.

There are four different types of religion in India and these are; the Hindu, Sikh, Muslim and christen. All these groups wear the pagri. The base of the turban is the same although the style with which people wear it may differ from one religion to another. The head wear is known to have originated from the Rajasthan. Here, puchrangi pagri is common and also demand-able.

The turbans also symbolize dedication, commitment and faith. During the ancient biblical times, the head wear was worn to symbolize self respect, dignity and authority, just like in the Arab and Indian world. It was also worn to symbolize royalty and was used to replace the crown. In some areas of monarchy, it still serves so well in the absence of a crown though the draping style could differ.

The market for this head-wear has been increasing tremendously. Today, there are various designs of the same available for individuals to choose from. The demand has influenced the market in a big way thus has affected the purchasing power of people. It is not popular only in designated regions but has become huge almost in the entire globe.

Traditionally, only men wore the turban. However, today the head-wear is also worn by women. Female turbans are also available in markets due to their growth in demand. There are also unique and quality materials that are worn on special occasions such as parties and marriage. They are used to bring out marvelous personality and look. Their prices vary and these can always start from very low range.

There are different sizes of the turban available in the market. The variation in size of people wearing them has facilitated the manufacture of different turbans with varying range of sizes to fit every individual. There are small sizes that are designed for children. There are also those which are meant for the middle aged and adults.

There are a lot of advantages associated with the use of turbans. One of the advantages of this cloth is that it protects people from the intense heat of the burning sun. In addition, it can also be utilized in practical situations. For instance, caravans of the desert usually use turbans as towels and blankets. Some will prefer using them as pillows when sleeping.

Turban wrapping is symbolic among different communities. The process of tying the cloth is a great art. People who are still new at doing it can take quite a long time to complete the process. Nevertheless, those used to it take only a few minutes.
