Choosing a photography approach for a wedding is in the hands of the bridal couple. They can determine how they like their wedding to be recalled for the a long time through photos. Although there are still requests for conventional wedding photography these days, the demands for such have decreased considerably. Betrothed couples in Singapore prefer a different approach in photography. Instead of having their photos while they pose and smile for the camera, they have faith in the photographer to just shoot photos at random times in the hopes that the pictures will show the real happening in their wedding.

This type of wedding photography is known as photojournalism or wedding reportage photography. Many wedding photographers in Singapore now offer this type of photography. The couples don't have to stop and pose for the camera every time. Instead, the photographer just clicks and takes pictures with or without the knowledge of the pair or their guests. With photojournalism, photographers are able to seize the real mood of the event with natural-looking pictures.

The photographer can capture sincere feelings that way since the couple and their guests don't need to pose and give their practiced smile in front of the camera. Brief but precious instances that are nearly impossible to be replicated and therefore must be taken on camera include the time when the bride's father sheds a tear as he hands his daughter over to her new husband, when the sleepy flower girl tries hard to stay awake during the ceremony, and when the groom shows an appreciative glance at his wife. These are instances that must be captured on camera because they make the wedding sincere.

That's not to say that conventional photography isn't practiced anymore. Taking conventional photography is almost necessary during weddings. A photographer typically asks the bride and the groom to pose with each other before and after the wedding, and the whole family to pose with the newlyweds right after the ceremony. These shots and some others are included in the list of must-take shots of the photographer. However, the rest of the shots are ideally unscripted.

A singapore wedding photographer usually offers couples a choice between traditional and photojournalism photography. A lot of couples, however, favour a combination of the two styles. They want a reportage style of photography so they can relive the experience through photos, but they also want a traditional photography style just for formality.
