We all aspire to be something great in our chosen fields, and for some of us it is in the hip hop industry that we want to make a name for ourselves. However, it is also true that making it big in this industry (or in any industry for that matter) does not happen overnight. Ask any established hip hop artist and they will tell you the same: it takes a lot of hard work to get where they currently are.

But first of all, do you have what it takes to be a successful hip hop artist? Well to be honest, you're the only one who can determine that. For instance, if you are passionate and disciplined enough to practice your rapping every day, chances are you are ready to make a career of this business. Otherwise, you simply view hip hop as a simple hobby.

But if you are serious about this and would really like to be the next hip hop sensation, then there are three different practices that you ought to apply in your life. The first one is to gain an intimate knowledge of how the current market moves and what its trends are. For instance, in what ways are musicians creating their music? What tools do they use in making them? Do they do it themselves or do they hire someone to make it for them? What are some new concepts you can learn? It is important that you keep yourself updated on these trends as they are keys to winning yourself a fan base.

After this, you are still not ready to create your own music. And though it may be hard at first, strive to create ones that are brimming with creativity and originality. Listening to sample beats and instruments by other makers will also help you have a grasp on what is already "out there" in the market. To create your own music, you can use different music software that are downloadable (for free or otherwise) from the internet. Don't hesitate to experiment and just let your creative juices flow! You'll be surprised on the kind of music you can create.

The third practice involves having a decent marketing strategy. What's the point of producing creative beats when people can't hear them? Also, how are they going to buy your music if they don't know it exists? But if you are new to the industry and find that marketing yourself and your works are too hard for you, why not try buying ready made beats by other makers?

There are affordable beats that can be found on websites that bring both buyers and sellers together. Most of the sellers will allow you to sample the beats before you actually purchase them. It is important for you to know that some sellers will relinquish all rights of ownership of the beats to you, while others will want to retain them.
