The mode of dressing since time in memorial has always been influenced by a number of factors such as religion, traditions and different cultures around the world. In these scenarios, firmness has been employed in ensuring their respective followers adhere to it at all times. A good example is the use of Islamic turban for the Muslim brotherhood. This one has been there since the early days of Prophet Muhammad.

It is a piece of cloth, long and slender in size which is used by men to cover their heads. It has been their way of dressing since the days of Prophet Muhammad. The fabric is made from different materials such as nylon, polyester or other natural ones of cotton and wool. All in all, it is used to serve the same purpose; head covering.

In color, they appear in variety. Some are black, others white, yellow, grey, blue and many others. Each of these colors has their own meaning and perception when one uses a turban of a certain color. In this regard, preference is wholly a matter of choice to make as long as one has knowledge about that given color he has put on.

On the issue of size, there is a standard measure denoted in the chapters of the prophetic book. This is actually in terms of length; between seven to ten yards. In this view, any measure between these two is quite appropriate. Of late, this length has been a subject of debate, with the leaders failing to agree on the right size. That is why any long cloth that covers the head with at least one winding is suitable for use.

Tying this cloth around the head is done in a certain skill and way for it to appear appropriate. At first, Muslim brothers tend to have difficulty in getting this right. With time, they get used to it and perfect. In this regard, the crown of the head should be completely covered during tying. If done so tight, headaches are bound to occur.

As per all these, the uses of this cloth are quite a number. When a man wears this, it pictures him as someone with high sense of respect and manhood. This shows that he is a strong believer in their faith and has a high feeling of total devotion into it. All these can be quoted from their holy book.

When praying, the use of this piece of cloth is a must. Some view bare heads while in prayers as a sign of laziness and abomination to the religious aspect. In this modern time, praying with a turban on the head is no longer an abomination as some view this as a way of total humility before Allah.

Islamic turban acts as a distinction from the other religions. When one is wearing it, it becomes easy to associate him to Islam faith. As of such, they are able to recognize their fellow brothers in conviction for them to socialize as they strengthen ties and have a group identity in them. This they believe brings them greater rewards.
