Most of the people who attend the Burning Man festival in Nevada go there to express themselves creatively and to share ideas. The event has even inspired fashions over the years. One of the products that was born after its creator attended Burning Man is ElectroFur, the coolest way to release your inner animal.

Fur has long been a staple in the wardrobes of people living in cold climates. In fact, the very first humans wore the skins of animals to keep them warm. It's one of the best materials to use if you need very good insulation, for instance if you're in the Arctic or in the steppes of Russia. It has also become very fashionable at times due to its sheer luxury.

While fur is certainly beautiful, it's also the most controversial material used in fashion today. Its production involves extreme cruelty to animals and a growing number of consumers find it impossible to justify the suffering of other creatures for the sake of fashion. This is why the market for synthetic alternatives has grown so much.

Faux or fake fur can look and feel very realistic. Some designers, however, prefer dyeing these fabrics in other colors. A bright pink or lime green fur trim, for instance, can turn any garment from plain into something eye-catching and fun. After having a brainwave at Burning Man, one designer went even further and created a way to make fluffy, glowing garments.

To create the effect, tiny neon lights are woven by hand into the fabric so that they're nestled among the furry synthetic fibers. They're connected to a battery pack that's hidden within the garment and these batteries make them light up. When the garment needs washing, you only have to take out the batteries and then hand wash the fabric in a gentle detergent, preferably one specifically for delicate and woolen fabrics.

There are designs for men, including vests and coats, or ones that are unisex, such as scarves. However, most pieces are made with women in mind. You can have your pick of fluffy vests, bras or even corsets with a fur trim, for instance. If you need something for cold nights, you may even want to go all out with a jacket or coat.

Halloween is the perfect excuse to wear glowing fur. For example, an animal-inspired hood will keep your head warm while you're out tricking or treating and a glowing, fluffy tail or wings can complete a unique costume. If you prefer a Western theme, simply don a stetson that has a bit of lit-up fur around the brim and you'll look like the most stylish cowboy or cowgirl at the rodeo.

To find ElectroFur garments, you simply need to go online and order from the company's website. If you ask nicely they may sell you a custom-made item too, even though they usually only do this for celebrities. Once you've received your garment in the mail, you'll have something eye-catching to wear anywhere, from Burning Man to the theater.
