The pictures your wedding photographer takes on your big day will be with you for life. Therefore it is important that you get the pictures you want, and to do this you need to know how to get the best from your photographer. Remember, they are an important part of your wedding day.

The first thing to do is choose your photographer from the many available. There are several way you can go about your search but a good starting point is recommendations. Ask friends, family or work colleagues who they used and what sort of experience they had.

Visit several wedding fairs in your area as photographers will often advertise at these events. It is likely that they will have albums you can look at so you can see the different styles of photographs they take. They should also have information you can take away on the type packages they offer.

Another good place to search is the internet or local directories. People who advertise online are likely to have a website you can view so you can see if you like their work before committing to an appointment to go and see them. If having looked at the website you do not like their style of photos you do not need to take it any further.

Make sure you write out a list of potential questions before you meet a possible photographer. This could be anything from what times they normally work between, to what is included in their packages or whether they operate alone or bring an assistant with them. If they do have an assistant this can be a good this as the assistant will often take additional photos of your guests while the main pictures are being taken.

Do not be scared of asking for exactly what you want. Your photographer cannot read your mind, so if you do not ask them for something, for example a particular shot of the wedding cake, they will not know you want it. Ask to see examples of previous events they have taken pictures at, and also whether they provide pictures in different media types such as DVDs, or possibly on canvas.

In the run up to your wedding make sure you keep them up to date with any changes to your plans. This may be things like needed them to turn up to your house earlier as you need to leave for the venue earlier. The more you can keep them in the loop the more they will appreciate it and the less likely it is that there will be hiccups on the day.

On the day make sure you let your guests know when they will be needed for photographs and where they need to be. You do not want to miss out on picture taking time because people are missing and need to be rounded up. It can be a good idea to make someone within your wedding party responsible for liaising with the wedding photographer Oakville to ensure all the required shots are taken and everyone knows where they are supposed to be when. By doing this you will be able to enjoy your day without any additional stress.
