I bought this as a fix so that I could at least take some pictures while snorkeling. Out of the box, this camera was awful. Maybe because of that I leave it on a lot and that's why the battery runs out! This camera is amazing. I like the artistic modes too, although I have not had much excuse to use them at work. I also use it in dark areas (think dusk to twilight) to focus on objects 20 feet away. If you want a great camera that captures action, this is not the camera for you. I hate to see what it looks like when taking underwater photos, especially when shooting objects in motion.

When I got this camera I was shocked at how unbalanced it felt in my hand. It is VERY heavy for such a small camera, and all that weight is toward the left.

Pictures got deleted either when the camera ran out of batteries or when the battery got taken out. It is by far one of the best little point and clicks that I have had and I have had at least 5 in the past 5 years. It's built well and has an exceptional battery life (275 picks per charge on average with 14 MP pictures) and the recharge is fairly quick.

This is a simple mechanism but it appears that Olympus made is worse so that the customer would purchase the more expensive camera. As you can figure from the above, the issue that I had with the camera is that once it was brought into the water, it leaked and was destroyed. I love most things about this camera, except half the time it doesn't focus the picture. Some videos I have taken you can see the camera randomly changing focus. I would recommend this camera for rain, the beach and poor weather but I hesitate to say it should be submerged. Have a backup if you are away on vacation (just in case).

However, its good compare it to other point and shoot cameras. The 720p HD video is great to have as well. You decide if you want to pay more for fancy stuff. Good pick if you want an affordable, waterproof, backup camera. The 'manual' is stored in the camera, which was new to me, but it wasn't difficult to figure out. All in all, I like that better because it saves resources, as well as the added benefit of a 'tutorial' scenario where the user can practice different shooting modes and methods, etc.

I have had this camera for only about a week and I love it! The pictures and movies are so clear.

I always use the 'lock' on the side and rinse it in fresh water after taking it in the ocean so I'm not sure how water keeps getting in the battery compartment, but it does. I sent it in the first time and they fixed it, but this time it's been exactly a year so I'm not sure what I'll do.
