Canada is the birthplace of many of the world's favorite actors. They include actors known for their comedy skills, like Jim Carrey, Mike Myers, Matthew Perry, Alan Thicke, Michael J Fox and Dan Aykroyd. Dramatic actors like Christopher Plummer, Donald Sutherland and his son Kiefer are Canadian exports too. Masimba Marlon Clarke is a rising star on the Canadian firmament who hopes to follow in these famous footsteps.
Even though he was born in the Manitoba city of Winnipeg, Marlon lived in Trinidad and Tobago until he was five. The Clarke family then returned to Canada, once again settling in Winnipeg. When the boy was ten years old, the Clarkes moved again, this time to the province of Ontario to live in bustling Toronto.
In high school the young man discovered that he had a knack for acting. He decided to major in Drama. At the same time he practiced his skills by performing in school plays and taking extra acting classes after school.
After graduating from high school, the actor-to-be enrolled in college. Even though he studied journalism, his true destiny would remain acting. In the last year of the Nineties he got his diploma and then started working on following his star.
The first break came in 2001, when Mr Clarke was cast in a small role in an independent film. It was a horror movie titled 'Massacre Up North', by writer and director Paul Stoichevski. It tells the tale of a man who was badly maimed in a burning accident and then goes on the rampage to get back at everybody who ever teased him about his looks. The young actor portrayed a police officer.
During the same period the Canadian rockers The Tragically Hip needed a video for a single off their seventh studio album. The song 'My Music at Work' eventually got a video that featured a group of office workers who get up from their desks and dance, bringing some excitement to their drab environment. The beefy actor featured as one of these office workers and showed that not only does he have acting talent, but he can rock some great moves too.
The up-and-coming actor also had a small role guest-starring in one of the episodes of 'This is Wonderland', a popular television series filmed and set in Canada. The legal-themed comedy-drama is set in Old City Hall in Toronto and stars Cara Pifko as a criminal lawyer. The series won several awards in Canada. In the third season, there is an episode with a character called 'Omar number 2', played by Marlon.
Standing five feet nine inches tall in his socks, the beefy Toronto-based actor helps pay the bills by modelling. He has appeared in many print advertisements, portraying anything from an office worker to a party animal and even a soldier. Some of the clients included sportswear manufacturer Adidas, restaurant and catering company Cara Foods, digital media company Captivate Network, Jackson Hewitt Tax Services, office supply chain Staples, the Canadian Blood Services and the Liquor Control Board of Ontario. If you cannot get enough of the man's sexy looks, you can go to the Marlon Clarke website for more information and e-cards.
