The 2012 collections of the best designers in the world offered some of the most spectacular looks to be seen in the last decade. The shows of September 2012 closed the year with a bang, affecting what people would be wearing in the following 12 months. Clothing boutiques in Tampa quickly stocked up with the colorful, vibrant styles that were seen on the catwalks.

Peter Doherty's independent rock star look, with its shredded fabrics, washed skinny jeans and silver on black palettes has gone mainstream. Contemporary fashionistas will be wearing washed black fabrics, slim silhouettes, hats and chains. Rugged styles such as this one will be influencing the way both females and males will be dressing, although the look is more dominant in men's wear.

The Warhol years have been brought into today's fashion world through the use of pop art in clothing. Bright palettes create a sense of fun that is emphasized by text based humor displayed on outfits. Ironic and funny phrases are printed onto T shirts, whilst evening wear is treated to crazy optical prints that add a pop art flavor.

In 2012, platforms reached heights that have not been as extreme since the Sixties. Whilst thick soles have not yet left ramps, they have been given a more classic style. Soles are slightly slimmer, and color blocks in candy floss hues are used on uppers. Stilettos have been brought back, allowing women to dress more elegantly.

Men's shoes have undergone an exciting new change. Before the new year dawned, only females were allowed to wear soles in contrasting colors to their uppers. This year, men wearing formal clothing are donning indigo soles that show a flash of color that does not appear in any other garments. Charcoal on charcoal outfits create a bleak textural effect that is enhanced by bright soles and shoe accents. Red flashes of color are being seen on casual sneakers, and siren red socks create a pop of color that is shown off using short or rolled up trouser hems.

This year's trends are making use of texture as a focal point. Sheers are placed next to opaques to achieve an elegant and sleek look for evenings. Chiffon or lace panels reveal a little skin in sheer sections that are contrasted against opaque silk and cotton. White on white palettes allow textures to take center stage.

Wearing denim tops and jeans is a look that is difficult to pull off successfully but it is on trend this year. To make the look slightly easier to achieve, chambray tops can replace denim shirts. Those who are less courageous are wearing blue shirts with prison strips with their jeans. The disco era's best denim textures and washes have been resurrected.

The Fifties Hollywood heroine is back, bringing a romantic flavor to female wardrobes. Whilst few Fifties starlets would wear hems above the knee, today's fashionistas are showing off their legs using high slits and short hems with layered lengths of fabric. Clothing boutiques in Tampa are stocked with all the fashions stylish consumers need to update their wardrobes.
