One of the most successful names in Hollywood during the past decade or two has been Jim Carrey. The slapstick comedy sensation has given millions of movie fans endless laughs, and continues to go strong into his 40s, making him a sensation around the world.

Everyone may have a differing opinion when asked about the best movie that Carrey has acted in. He's had so many mega hits during the past two decades that limiting it to just one might be very hard to do.

Looking at some of Jim Carrey's earlier movies, the first two that put him on the map were his Ace Ventura movies and The Mask.

Carrey's versatility as an actor was definitely showcased in The Mask, as he played a character with an absolutely huge personality.

While Ace Ventura and The Mask were both great movies, a large number of people believe that Dumb and Dumber was even better. The cross country voyage of Carrey and Jeff Daniels provided some of the best movie moments of the'90s, and this movie is still regularly broadcast on television.

Some later releases of Carrey's that followed these movies included "Liar, Liar" and The Cable Guy. Both of these cast the actor in very creative roles, and led the box office in sales when they were released. Carrey's versatility is showcased in each of these movies.

Those into the more serious side of Carrey may opt for his great work in movies like The Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Carrey gave sensational performances in both of these movies, each of which earned him consideration for an Oscar in the minds of many.

As you can see, this is a debate that may be really hard to settle. With so many great choices, it all boils down to personal tastes at the end of the day.
