Having the right art supplies will go a long way in making your business a success, whether it is focused on selling supplies or teaching art classes. More often than not many businesses of this type fold and do not succeed because of the poor quality of supplies that they use. Many art classes draw a lot of students because they make use of the proper and good quality supplies. This explains why some art classes are not as attended as others. They want to learn using the best tools because it is also a way of ensuring they get the best training.

What are the supplies that your inventory as an art store should have in stock? The basics or essentials should be there, whether your customers are amateurs or professionals. Probably the first things you would think of would be paints, inks and dyes. The many categories of paints include acrylic, oil, watecolour, glass, or ceramic. Paints are sold individually or in sets.

Kids and young ones are more inclined to look for pastels and crayons. For the more serious artists, they would also look for various mediums, varnishes and primers. You should not forget to include charcoal, pens, pencils and brushes in your inventory. It would also be advisable to throw in some of the holders and cases for these brushes and pens so as to protect them from unnecessary wear and tear.

Art papers and pads should always be included in any list of supplies that you make. Drawing boards are also gaining much popularity lately. You should also make sure you have a selection of canvas available for purchase by the roll, per meter, in pads or in panels. Canvas accessories and artboards will also be a good addition to your supplies inventory.

It will do you good if you have a wide range of easels for customers to choose from. Customers will want to have more choices when it comes to their easels, from wooden to metal ones, and of different sizes too. Artist stools are good additions to these easels that artists will truly appreciate.

Art supplies also include the different types of instructional materials. Stock up on books, magazines and maybe even multimedia materials that center on creating art. More people will be more encouraged to get into art and patronize your business if you have items that will get them started on their artistic journey. They would appreciate learning more about sketching, drawing, sculpting, painting using various mediums, and other forms of art.

Storage items for the art supplies are also necessary. Art satchels and bags are especially useful in organizing the smaller items such as pens and brushes. Aside from drawing tubes and portfolios, wooden art cases are also often used to keep finished artworks or even the artworks in progress.

If you know what supplies your potential customers require, you will have an easier time identifying which ones you would keep in your store. You won't spend as much time deciding which to buy and you would also avoid wasting money on art supplies that will not be used by your customers in the end.
