There are quite a number of uses for turbans for men. One common problem that people have with these garments is that they mistakenly link them with terrorism. Obviously, this is quite fallacious as there are different types of people who wear them but have no relationship whatsoever with terrorists. The following are the major groups of people who don them.

Sikh men use turbans in order to cover their hair which can be quite long. One of the reasons why Sikh have long hair is due to the fact that they take it as a respect to God and therefore rarely cut it. Apart from the hair, they also have quite lengthy beards which are also tucked inside. Sikhs are scattered all over the world especially in North America and Europe.

Turbans are also worn by Muslim religious leaders. One distinguishing characteristic of those worn by Muslim leaders is that they are usually held in place by a cap which could be of any color. There are those who wear white ones because their prophet Mohamed was always spotted in a white one.

Even others prefer to don theirs which are beautifully colored with jewels and fancy pieces of cloths.

There is a type of turban which has gained a wide popularity of late. It is called the kaffiyeh and is the one which was commonly worn by the late Palestinian leader called Yasser Arafat. Due to this, there are those who thought that the kaffiyeh originated in Palestine. In actual fact, the kaffiyeh has always been worn by men who live in Saudi Arabian and Jordan. A kaffiyeh can either be worn in black or white.

Men who live in deserts usually wear turbans in order to protect their faces from the sand and hot sun. Apart from this, there are those who wear them in order to disguise their real identity. It is also common to find members of a certain tribe wearing a uniquely colored one so as to show their tribal affiliations. All in all, turbans for men come in diverse colors, styles and shapes. Even though a simple glance may not reveal what they signify, it is a fact that they represent so much.
