Richard Overton was born to Nancy and Hall in Queens, New York on August 10, 1954. A boy raised in Englewood, New Jersey, he was credited for his first onscreen role as Dr. Thurman Flicker in the comedic film Young Doctors In Love aired in 1982. His other acting credits include Willow and The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne.

From 1992 to 1993, he was casted in The Edge which is FOX channel's sketch comedy show. He also had a role in Mrs. Doubtfire in the latter part of 1993. His appearances in numerous TV shows like Joan of Arcadia, NYPD Blue, Alias and the recent Lost have been recognized too.

Overton's passion is not only limited to TV and films for which he appeared in over 50 shows and counting. He was first and foremost a writer who did 20 episodes for HBO's Dennis Miller Live in 1996. In fact, he won an Emmy for a single episode of the show in 1996.

He was again nominated by Emmy and the Writers Guild of America for his other works on comedy and variety programs. His fluency in the use of words has earned him a place in Satiristas. Indeed, he has worked with comedy veteran Paul Provenza for this show.

Satiristas is where the great comic minds meet to discuss issues of the current American society with satire and humor. The show is hilariously packed with stand up comedy as well as art portraits from the artists.

The actor's contribution to Satiristas cannot be overlooked. Along with other comedians, he helps expose the negative aspects of the society through the jokes he cracks. He can flawlessly touch on subjects like racism, social injustice and even environmental pollution to hopefully make changes.

Well, Richard Overton does have time to stay away from all those social and political issue chasing. When he is not busy being a comedian, he likes to walk around local dog parks to strike a win-win situation, because everybody knows he has never had a single pup on his own.
