While I know many different tricks and ways of getting cheaper and better photography, I'm about to share with you my dirtiest and best secret. There are actually wedding photographers out there who shoot for free. They have photos that are far better than most professional ones. They tend to only shoot for friends and family and colleagues. If you offer a person like this even a modest sum, you can get them to shoot for your wedding and get superior results.

The best way to finding these people is using the powers of the internet. Just search for photographer communities or galleries. This is where photographers get together to share their work in a community dedicated to the art. You can then find which of the better artists are in Chicago, and then go see their work, see which person's photos you like the best, especially if they do weddings.

You would then contact them, compliment them on their work and explain how even though you know they're not a "photo studio" you would love to have them shoot your wedding, and then ask them how much it would cost. Tell you would pay whatever their price is . Don't worry; they will give you very cheap rates way below what photo studios charge for.

It isn't just a bunch of advantages though. The downside to going with an artistic photographer is that this one is unlikely to do his or her own prints. He or she doesn't own a studio, and will not be able to offer the same prices for the actual printing, because he doesn't do bulk like a studio would. So you have to go print the photos yourself.

Even though you won't get rates for the printing that are as low as a photo studio shooting would, if you combine the complete costs it will still come out cheaper than hiring a studio to do everything from shoot to organize to print. You just need a very talented amateur.
