Event photography has more requirements than other types of photographic assignment. The size of the event has the outstanding impact on the job, and may require one, two, or even an entire team of photographers particularly when there are synchronised activities to cover for one entire event. As a client, you do not want to compromise the quality of work the photographer can present, and you know you are in sound hands if these five items are masterfully taken cared of:

Special moments. Event photography need not only be a chronological documentation of activities occurring within an event. More fundamental than that are peculiar and tender moments which demonstrate the over-all feeling event participants and guests felt while being at the event. When they see the photos, they will remember how they felt as though they were in the moment again. Get laughter, tears, triumphs and excitement.

People. This is not hard for event-goers to admit: they go to events for vanity reasons. And so, society pages of local dailies are pelted with poses here and there of who-and-who rubbing shoulders with the bigwigs of company so-and-so. Just next to emotions in meaning, in event photography, photos of big people going to the event are part of the package. In case of a corporate event, it may help with brandmark or corporate image. In case of a private event, the pictures of people who attended the event serve as a souvenir to be treasured for generations.

Activities. Event photography definitely includes the documentation of activities that were part of the event. The photos should be able to entirely retell what transpired, without lacking a detail. How does an event photographer execute it? Preparation is fundamental. Before the date of the event, a prudent event photographer already considers the programme or abstract of activities so he can anticipate what to shoot. Also, he recaps the list of guests and if he is seeing the name of a person for the first time, then the photographer can do a little inquiry to identify the person ahead of time.

Special gimmicks. This is a crucial feature in any event, and ordinarily occurs during the introductory part or when a merchandise is to be brought out. Event photography should include a stylistic rendition of this main feature so that the pictures will be able to emphasize more that this is the part of the event that got the most clapping for being outstanding, indeed.

Changes In The Event. No matter how event organisers try to make everything work as planned, some things can go beyond their control. And so event photography should invariably have a sensitivity to turn of events that may make the event more interesting than how it presently is. Make sure to take shots of everything, and it is easy to remove those pictures which the client does not wish to include in the final portfolio.
