When a woman goes on a shopping trip seeking a prestige accessory, many of the items that she finds will not be genuine. When she is looking for a python bag, she is seeking a high-end fashion item which will make her look good and feel good. It may even make her feel like one of the Jetset.

There are all sorts of markets both online and off-line offering prestige fashion items. They even have genuine looking big-name designer labels. Unfortunately many of them are cheap knockoffs, and the people who buy them simply lose their money.

Real snakeskin has a certain look and a certain feel. There are also certain costs involved in obtaining such material. This means that if a potential buyer looks at the price that it is being offered at, how it feels and how it looks, they have a good chance of detecting a fake.

Just like snowflakes and fingerprints, snakeskin has its own unique pattern. Any customer who sees the same pattern repeated in many items, is not looking at the genuine article. Getting to know real snakeskin will require experience, but it is worth the effort.

The skin of a snake absorbs warmth. You can touch leather or vinyl for a few moments and it will not feel noticeably warmer. If you touch real snakeskin for a second or two, you will see the difference.

Snakeskin, if it is genuine, is always rough. The skin of a snake is made up of scales which have a distinctive feel. No cheap counterfeit fashion accessory can duplicate this feeling.

Finally, there is price. A real python bag is not cheap, so checking reputable fashion outlets will give potential buyers some idea of what to pay. Any item that looks like an amazing bargain is probably a fake. All in all, it is best to stick to retailers with an established reputation.
