Set your camera setting properly for your shot. For example, if you want to take a picture of an object in motion, you will need one kind of setting, and if you shoot an object that is still, you will need a different setting. This will avoid having unwanted effects in your photos.

In a landscape shot, the foreground is just as important as the background. Compose the foreground of your shot to create a more striking frame and increase the appearance of depth.

Consider the purpose of your picture before taking it. You might want to turn the camera vertically for certain shots and horizontally for others. It is always possible to edit a shot, but don't give yourself extra work by using a poor angle.

Look for the perfect subject for your shot. You can have the best equipment and be the best photographer, but if you don't have the right subject to capture in those photographs, your photos will not turn out very well. Carefully choose objects that inspire you, or find a model who will pose for you.

Whenever you are trying to decide which of you pictures to show, it is important that you select your best work. You do not want to show every picture, or too many with the same subject. It can get very boring for others to see the same thing over and over again. Keep your photo displays fresh and interesting, and show off a variety of aspects of your creative photography talents.

Having people in your pictures can add authenticity, perspective and interest. Of course, it is recommended to request permission first before snapping pictures. When you travel, seeing these pictures can remind you of the memories involved, even if they contain average people in them. Try to catch people that are just ordinary.

Generally, only one shot in twenty is satisfactory artistically, but you shouldn't throw the other nineteen away. When you create a scrapbook of your "missed shots," it can help you to improve your photography skills.
