This is what keeps him so popular and draws people to movies that he stars in and movies he produces.

The Early Years Owensburg, Kentucky was the place where Johnny Depp came into the world on June 9, 1963. His parent's early divorce set him into a downward spiral for years when he would self-harm himself. He managed to overcome that when he began to find some success playing the guitar in the 1980's. He dropped out of school to travel as a rock musician and married Lori Anne Wilson in 1983. Lori is the person who got him into acting with the introduction of Depp to Nicolas Cage, who encouraged him to look into acting. This encouragement led to the career that he has now.

Starting His Career Depp began with small roles and moved to starring roles over a period of time. He has been seen in many different films, both good and bad, including the title role of Edward Scissorhands. In 1984, he had the role of boyfriend in Nightmare on Elm Street, and went on to start in such classics as Platoon, What's Eating Gilbert Grape?, and Chocolat. His roles have been quite varied and this is what makes him so special and loved by movie watchers of all ages.

Career Hits Most people know Johnny Depp from his role of Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. These action packed movies seemed to be made for Depp and have made his name even more popular and well-known. In addition, he starred in the movie, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, where he starred as the ultimate chocolatier, Willy Wonka. These two roles are the ones that most people remember the best, simply because they are so recent and they were so memorable. Sweeney Todd and Finding Neverland are also two of the movies that most people think of when they consider Johnny Depp.

Production His creation of his own production company, Infinitum Nihil, is something that Depp is especially proud of. In 2011, they released The Rum Diary, which is based on the novel of the same name. Hugo, which Martin Scorcese directed, was also released in 2011 and he is releasing Dark Shadows, which is directed by the great Tim Burton, in 2012.

Family Life Johnny Depp has been through several marriages, starting with Lori Anne Allison, but was linked to many different women since they divorced. Since 1998, he has been in a relationship with Vanessa Paradis, with whom he has two children, Lily Rose and Jack. Even though Depp has not remarried, he does say that fatherhood has "grounded" him in a way like nothing else, and this is seen in his personal life now, as compared to when he was younger.

Johnny Depp is a multi-faceted actor who amazes us on a regular basis with his ability to make us laugh and to transport us into his stories. It will be interesting to see if he has that same long-lasting magic in his production company as well. Whether or not he does, we have surely not heard the last of Johnny Depp and that is good news for us all.
