When it comes to Arab turban it is something worn by men who are Arabs or who live in Middle East. In simple terms it is a piece of fabric nicely folded or wrapped on top of your head and is regarded as a custom to wear it in Middle East. They are often know by some other names usually Dastar or Imamah.

White and black are the two main colors that you will find when it comes to Arab turban. Some men are determined to follow their religious and cultural beliefs and they prefer not to wear vibrant colors. However you will sometimes find red or black checked scarves worn by Arabian people. Depending on the type of material and fabric these head coverings can range from being very cheap to extremely expensive.

To wear a turban is not a difficult thing but you can find it hard in the beginning. With a bit of practice and over time it becomes easier to wear such head covering. It will be good if you are able to find someone who would let you do some practice on their heads and after a few times you will perfect your wrapping skills.

The technique is very simple and supplies you require are not much in terms of quantity just a piece of cloth or scarf and a few pins. You will need a fabric measuring 20 inches wide and 70 inches long. Just role the long side of the fabric while holding it in a diagonal way.

Hold the other end of the material with your teeth just to make sure that it remains in the right place while you would be wrapping the fabric, just start from the top and finish at the back of your head. Keep holding the clothe in a diagonal position and repeat the same top to back procedure until all of your head is fully covered. Finish loop after loop and in the end when you reach the forehead part stop wrapping.

To create more ridges you need to twist the fabric more. It depends on your personal choice that how many ridges you desire and that would determine how many times the fabric needs to be twisted. Roll it from side to side while twisting the clothe at the same time to create perfect ridges. Once you know how twisted your ridge should be then you can easily fold loop after loop while folding them nice and tight.

Every single ridge should form a symmetrical shapes that means your new ridge should be laid on top of the old one that was created. To firmly secure the head wear use hair pins of your choice. It is recommendable to fold and twist just approximately six ridges and when you are finished tuck the end side of the scarf right on top of the forehead. While securing with hair pins make sure that you are not using too many of them.

Finally tuck the other side of the fabric that you were holding with your teeth at the back of your head. Secure that side with hair pins as well. A finished Arab turban would be right there in front of your eyes.
