A turban may be defined as a headwear which can be shaped by folding the cloth. Tie a turban is the most important clothing practice in some cultures around the globe. This is a custom wear and the practices may vary from regions to regions. The geographical locations where this wear is popular could be listed as India, Afghanistan, eastern Africa, south Asia, Jamaica and Middle East.

Traditional turbans might be seen in various styles most of these styles vary region to region. This headwear is available in various shapes, sizes and colors. In some regions a clothe is winded to form the head wear and the winding is essential in each time, the regions which follow this procedure may be listed as Sikhs, middle east, central and south Asia. Even the size of this cloth strip varies based on the practice. Modest clothe are usually seen to be of five meters.

In western culture this is defined as the head wear used by women. It was common in early twentieth century western women and this may be hardly seen now. Colors are also considered as important factors. Almost all group practices different color patters. Some examples can be described as Indian Sikh community prefers colors like white, blue, saffron and black. In the same way UK people prefer black and blue colors. White are a distinctive color and almost all people around the globe preferred this color as this is a color of peace indicator. White is also symbolizes special purpose wear.

From battlefield to offices these wear found their various applications and are available in big and small sizes. Every color and style indicates something special and they are indicated as the crowns in some communities. There is no right or wrong way to use this wears as each community has its own beliefs and practices different right methods.

It is considered to be okay if it is worn in a way that ensures the head is totally covered. There are various styles and some of them could be listed as the ladies dastar, the Kenyan, the double Patti, damalla and lots of others. The Kenyan is the most practiced styles and brought into existence by the people who moved from Kenya and went to the UK. Others might also have moved from Tanzania to UK. This was used as a symbol of status of that profession.

The general steps to tie a turban could be seen as complicated but it is easier if practiced regularly. Washing the cloth before knotting can help because of the removed starch content. Rough cloths are better than silk type of clothes because of the easiness in tying. Apart from tradition, it can be seen that this wear is also attracting people as a new fashion.
