You may have decided that you would like a new digital camera and if this is the case then you will have to consider a few things before you make your purchase. The main reason why many people regret the digital camera that they have bought is because they were in too much of a rush to make the purchase in the first place.

So before you decide to buy a digital camera for yourself, the following are a few things that you need to consider.

How will this camera be used by you? This is probably the most important thing to consider because it will determine the type of camera you want to buy. You are not going to need anything too flashy if you only plan on taking the occasional snap. On the other hand if you are a keen photographer or intend to use these photographs on your website you probably want something fairly decent.

How much can you afford to spend on the camera? This is something that you will want to consider very carefully. If you think you will be using the camera quite a bit then you might want to think about spending the most that you can afford on it.

Don't think that megapixels are the most important thing to consider. Don't feel that you need to buy a camera with the most megapixels because all cameras these days will have a decent amount. Five megapixels are enough for most needs and this is what most cameras come with.

Another thing to think about are the extras that come with the camera. This is a very important consideration especially for those who don't have too much money to spend on their hobby later on. These days many digital cameras will come with free accessories such as extra lenses, a camera case, a tripod or a memory card.
