TV entertainment, particularly during festive season like Christmas, is something you do not want to miss. If it comes at, just at that time, you need to take emergency action. Tackling it may be done in any one of the following ways:

1. The operating manual is a guide to deal with not only operation but also minor problems in your TV set. If it is just a simple manipulation of controls, you save on the heavy expenses involved in getting a repair man.

2. When you find that the problem cannot be tackled by you, a TV technician's services are required and that may be costly, even for finding out what has gone wrong. You will have to decide whether to replace it with another or retain the same.

3. Just to get over the Christmas period, you may think of some ad hoc solutions. It may be getting back your old Television set into service or if it is not available, bringing out the set kept in your bedroom for all to watch.

4. In case, the breakdown has happened during the warranty period, the repair can be got done free as the retailer is bound to do that.

5. In case, you are using a rental TV, then also you are free of worries about expenses, as the leasing company will take care of all repairs including manufacturing defects.

6. Aged TV sets, are not worth repairing, spending your money on it. You may replace it with the latest brand/ model in the market. The best time for purchasing that is January.

7. In case, you are keen saving on repairs in future, a good option is to go for rentals. The best available TV will be yours for viewing, something you can never think of, as it may be beyond your purchasing power. It is a worthwhile consideration.

8. If you decide on the rental option, look for it immediately, in time for X-mas.
