The upcoming campus-romance titled Student of the Year will be the seasoned director-producer Karan Johar's fifth stint at direction. Starring three fresh-faces, the film has been grabbing a lot of interest and will have actors Sidharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt play the roles of three students named Abhimanyu Singh, Rohan Nanda and Shanaya Singhania, in an esteemed institution in Dehradun. Together, the three are faced with the ups and downs of youth and end up competing against each other in a race to win the prestigious Student of the Year Trophy. The film will hit theater screens on the 19th of October 2012.

Farah Khan and Karan Johar have shared a long-standing bond. The two have worked together on films like Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham..., and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, all directed by Karan Johar. Farah Khan has also choreographed dances for films produced by Karan Johar, including Dostana and Kaal. For Student of the Year, Farah Khan has worked alongside Remo and Vaibhavi Merchant to choreograph the dance moves.

And that's not all. Farah Khan will also make a special appearance in Karan Johar's next! The director-choreographer will play the role of a dance competition judge in one of the songs. This music video will also feature Karan Johar's close friend and lucky mascot Kajol in a guest appearance.

According to him, directing the second half of "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" was a lot easier even at the age of 25. The upcoming film also made the director nostalgic, bringing back memories of his first film. After Student of the Year, Karan Johar is considering directing films with mature themes. Sharing his thoughts on a Twitter post, Karan Johar claimed that working with 20-plus actors simply makes him feel older and it was time he started working more often with the older lot.

Catch Farah Khan and Kajol in the upcoming Student of the Year, scheduled to release on the 19th of October 2012. The film will have its leading trio play the roles of three pupils in an affluent school in Dehradun. This will be Karan Johar's fifth directorial venture after My Name Is Khan, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham..., and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. The film is one of the most anticipated releases of the year and will also be produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. As for Sidharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt, the trio will be making their first silver-screen appearance with Student of the Year.
