A different trend is noticeable in hindi film industry as more meaningful and bolder films are being launched in place of the frivolous blockbusters. Many of these depict attention-holding themes, story lines and techniques being used by the movie makers. This move can be witnessed in the newly released and upcoming Bollywood movies.

The difference between the art movies and commercial movies is not that obvious anymore. Present Bollywood cinema emphasizes more on the reality and has good direction, cinematography and editing characterizing these movies. Good cinema directed by capable directors is having a huge effect on the selection of the movies by the public in general.

The story lines of several newest and upcoming Bollywood movies including 3 Idiots, Wake Up Sid and Well Done Abba are concerned with the problems and life problems of an ordinary citizen. The common man's fight against global terrorism and social injustice has found favour with the modern directors.

One more evident trend is the use of the advanced technology and graphics in new movies like Drona, Love Story-2050 and Krrish. Moreover, animation cinema is being appreciated by the viewers and some large production houses including Yash Raj Films are investing in such films.

Yet another trend that has resulted in fortunes for producers is the remake of old classics.. Recent movies that were plotted on old movies include RGV ki Aag, a remake of the all time classic Sholay and Don, a remake of the old Amitabh Bachchan movie with the same name.

The inclination to make films that appeal to the metropolitan movie goers is increasing now. Such movies like Fashion, Metro, Company, Wake Up Sid and Page3 that were aimed towards the city audience have turned out to be very profitable for the producers.

Another upcoming change perceptible in Bollywood is that of multiple films being produced every year by select production houses. In fact there is an increasing tendency towards co-productions as well.

Last but an important trend is the good reception of Hindi cinema overseas and enhanced overseas sales of the movies made by big Bollywood productions. A huge number of the Indians who are now residing abroad still want to see Hindi movies and it is conjectured that soon Bollywood movies will be competing with the Hollywood flicks in global markets.
